The long-standing demand of residents of Sector 137, Noida, for supply of Ganga jal is likely to be fulfilled by the end of February.
Deepak Agarwal, CEO of Noida Authority, ordered his juniors to speed up development work on pipelines for the sector and complete it within the deadline. The order came after a delegation of residents met Agarwal on January 4. Residents said he assured them of Ganga jal supply within two months.
There are more than nine multistorey societies in the sector, where about 5,000 families live. They have all been using groundwater, which has TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) levels ranging from 2,000 to 2,200.
The delegation comprised of Rama Krishna, KK Gupta, Rahul Batra, S Narayanan, Praveen Kushwah and Nandini Srivastava.
Krishna said that Agarwal met them for about 40 minutes and was quick to pass orders. “We discussed other issues too, such as sanitation, road repair, installation of streetlights, removal of encroachments, development of the proposed central park in the sector and restoration of green belts. He assured us that these problems would soon be looked into.”
Srivastava raised the issue of lack of NMRC’s shuttle bus service in the sector. “As these buses do not ply in my sector, I urged the CEO to start the service for us and have a bus stop here. Although he told us the Authority acted only as an advisory body to NMRC, he promised to convey our message to it.”TAGS: Sector 137 / Noida / Ganga Jal / Noida Authority / Deepak Agarwal / Rama Krishna / KK Gupta / Rahul Batra / S Narayanan / Praveen Kushwah / Nandini Srivastava / Noida Metro Rail Corporation
