Noida Authority push for Chhath ghats' preparations

With Chhath Puja just two away, Noida Industrial Development Authority directed all concerned officials to ensure that ghats are ready for the celebration as the festivities of Chhath Puja has already begun from Wednesday onwards.

The direction came after members of Chhath Puja Sewa Samiti and Bharat Jagruk Nagrik Sangathan, organisers of the celebrations, on October 30 met Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer of Noida authority in this regard. She immediately directed officials to make all necessary arrangements besides the ghats to facilitate the puja.

People from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar settled in Noida celebrate the festival with great traditional fervour. One of the venues for the celebrations is Yamuna river bank near the Okhla barrage in Moods side. The four-day long celebration already underway will culminate on November 3.

President of the Sangathan, Shailendra Baranwal, termed the officers of the authority as very cooperative who, he said immediately came into action for preparation of ghats besides the Okhla barrage, where they used to go every year for offering prayer and argh to the rising sun on the eve of Chhath Puja.

Sujeet Keshari, a member of the Sewa Samiti informed that the  officials had assured them of duly cleaned ghats and arrangement for illumination of the celebration venues. He said that they have also requested the authority to arrange first-aid health center for public at the venues for availing the medical services in case of any injury.

They also met with Avinash Tripathi, officer on special duty with the authority, who assured them that things would be in place for the period of celebration.
