Noida: Gasping 7x's SoS fails to stir UPPCB into action

With air quality deteriorating post-Diwali, residents of 7x sectors in Noida fear breathing dust as no action is taken against the RMC (ready-to-mix concrete) plant on Hanuman Murti Road in spite of several written and online complaints especially on Twitter.

A group of residents from 7x, on Thursday, wrote to regional officer of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) demanding action and imposing a penalty on the RMC plant which is not only polluting the air but also creating traffic issues because of road encroachment by the trucks which come to the plant.

Brajesh Sharma, a resident of Antriksh Golf View, said, "No action was taken on the complaints made over ATR, in fact they penalised the contractor who had built the road instead of the plant which is creating the ruckus.”

In the letter, the residents said that they were not happy with the indifferent attitude of the authorities. They pointed out on Twitter that commercial vehicles were damaging the newly constructed road, spreading dust around and blocking the main road of the 7x sectors.

In the letter, they also expressed their anguish over the contractor being penalised for violating the norms and called it an inappropriate and illogical step.
