Noida: 7x sectors residents create artificial pond for Chhath Puja

As the celebration of Chhath Puja started, residents of 7x sectors decided to adopt environment friendly ways to organise the festival. They have prepared a temporary water reservoir behind residential societies.

Naveen Dubey, a resident of Supertech Capetown, a high rise in sector 74, said that a temporary pond was created for all those residing in high rises in Sector 72 to Sector 79.

The pond has been created behind Mahagun Moderne and Hyde Park, two different high rises in Sector 79, where devotees would be accommodated for offering prayers.

He said, “We do not want to pollute Yamuna any further. It is already contaminated and devotees cannot take a dip in it. We needed to arrange an alternative.”

“Traditionally, the entire worship has been done at bank of a clean river and pond as devotees offer ‘arghya’ to the rising sun. Since the existing water in the river is not clean, we have made a temporary pond for people’s convenience. The pond is big enough to accommodate everyone,” he said.

7x Chhath Puja Samiti, which is a group of residents, representing all high rises in these sectors, has taken much efforts for preparation. It has arranged swings for children at the place of worship. Children can also enjoy horse and camel rides at the venue.

Dubey said, “The Chhath Puja Samiti has also taken efforts to inform all residents about the creation of temporary reservoir and invited them to come for celebration.”

“We have received good response and feedback from residents in high rises as they are enthused for celebration at the venue,” he added.
