Halloween Night: When scary excitement swayed Gurugram societies

It was, indeed, a scary night when ghosts, witches and zombies, who strode out in the darkness to trick and treat you with delicious candies and chocolates.

Several societies in Gurugram celebrated the Halloween Night with lots of fun and spook. Residents of Vipul Belmonte, Sector 53 in Gurugram too had geared up for the nightly sojourn spending entire day in preparing children to come out for trick and treat.

The kids were all dressed up in the spookiest attires complete with masks and make-ups to create ghostly get-up.

Not just children but adults also could be spotted all dressed up as witches and vampires.

Aarti Mehta, a resident and one of the organisers of the nocturnal event, said, “Halloween night has become quite popular among the people of our society. We have been celebrating the occasion for the last five years with lots of fun and frolic. Those who host the Halloween night decorate their home on a theme.”

The children, who have waited for this day the whole year, dressed up and played pranks on each other, went on a door-to-door mission to scare neighbours with their spooky get-up and gait and enjoyed a treat of sumptuous candies, chocolates etc.

Residents of Vatika City in sector 49 were not far behind. They too went on a tricking and treating expedition. The residents, especially the children, soaked themselves in the spirit of Halloween.

In recent times, Halloween has become popular among youngsters in general and children in particular. The occasion gives them an opportunity to dress up in unique costumes.

“It's so much fun to dress uniquely and then go with my friends for a trick or treat. The entertainment never stops while going with your buddies, and on top of it, I love the candies, chocolates and all the goodies associated with the occasion,” said Divyam Mehta, a young resident of Vatika City.

Namish, 7,  has another perspective to the celebration. Though he too resonates about the fun-and-candies aspect like the children of his age, he adds that it's so much fun to meet new people and make friends. For him, scaring adults is like adding ice to cherry which he says gives him an ultimate thrill.
