Concerned over increased pollution in the city, especially after Diwali festivity, several housing societies in New Gurugram have taken a series of precautionary measures to ensure that the pollution levels do not rise any further.

Several societies including Sare Homes in Sector 92, New Town Heights in Sector 90, Antriksh Heights in Sector 84 and Mapsko Casabella in Sector 82 have came forward to meet the challenge of increasing pollution in the city.

They have started sprinkling water on the internal and external roads of the society along with spraying water trees and hedges to prevent the dust from flowing into the air.

Praveen Malik, RWA President of Sare Homes said, “We have taken precautionary measures and prepared a schedule for sprinkling of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) water on the internal roads, plants, hedges and outside the society premises to settle suspended dust particles. We have also distributed masks among the guards, operational staffs and notified the residents to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the administration to curb the environmental pollution in the city.”

Due to the pollution, many people are complaining breathlessness, sore throat, watery eye, especially school children and senior citizens who are getting affected much due to the bad environmental condition.

Avnish Dahiya, vice-president of Antriksh Heights RWA, said, “Many senior citizens of our society are complaining respiratory problems post Diwali. Due to this, we have taken some precautionary steps to help in controlling pollution level as much we can.”

They are also urging people to avoid carrying out any activity which can cause air and dust pollution. “Environmental pollution has increased manifold in the city which is affecting the life of the residents. To combat this, we have undertaken sprinkling of water on roads and washing plants. It is the need of hour and everyone need to do his/her bit to deal with the situation,” said Rao Dharamveer, president of Mapsko Casabella RWA .
