Chhath, one of the mega festivals of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern UP, started today in the evening with arygya (offering milk or water) to the setting sun. In the evening around 5 pm, devotees and the vratee (who kept fast) paid their offering to the Sun God with raw milk and Ganga Water. Priests and family members performed the rituals of arghya for the vratee on Chhath Ghats (river banks) in various sectors and societies.
Apart from grand celebration at artificial Chhath Ghats, community people and families celebrated the puja at the terrace of their societies by making water tank or in the society’s parks or in temple premises inside the societies.
