Going tough on willful defaulters, the district administration on Saturday initiated strict action against all, including realty majors for causing pollution in the city. As many as 20 defaulters, including employees of realty companies, were arrested for disobeying the order issued by Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority to curb air pollution in the city, officials said. 

Following an instruction from B N Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Shailendra Mishra, City Magistrate conducted a surprise inspection of ready-to-mix concrete (RMC) plants of Wave Infratech, a realty major. During the inspection, he found that the plant was operational despite blanket ban on the operation. 

The plants were seized, and two mixer dumpers were recovered from the sites by the official.  

Mishra said 20 workers, including Raj Sharma, supervisor of the plants, were arrested and sent to jail on the charge of causing pollution and violating EPCA's order on air pollution. 

According to officials, a team comprising of officers from district administration and Uttar Pradesh pollution control board, on November 2, conducted a joint operation against defaulters. They arrested a total of 35 people, including a manager and three engineers with Sikka Kamna Greens, another realty major. These employees were arrested from Sector 79 while carrying out construction work despite ban on it up to November 5.

Other than district administration, the Noida Industrial Development Authority also acted against defaulters. It imposed a penalty of Rs 16, 45, 000 on several individuals for leaving construction materials in the open. 

The authority carried out water sprinkling exercise on several roads cleaned by mechanics as the ban has been imposed on manual cleaning also.
