EDMC distributes dustbins to segregate garbage

Under the ongoing cleanliness drive in the area, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) distributed dustbins among residents to segregate garbage in Kanti Nagar, ward 26 Shanti Mohalla, on Saturday. 

Segregation before disposing of waste reduces the amount of toxins entering the atmosphere and thereby saves human lives as well as flora and fauna of the planet earth. Unsegregated hazardous waste in particular can cause long term health problems for humans. Hence, it is very important that they are disposed of safely so that they do not mixed with the normal waste generated at your homes, offices and other commercial establishments.

EDMC’s Sahadara zone chairperson, Kanchan Maheshwari, confirmed that they have distributed green dustbins in the area so that people could easily deposit their garbage accordingly. While the waste from vegetable can be used to compost, from that of metal can made use of in several other ways. 

“We have set a recycle machine for plastic as well just to educate people about how their awareness can save the nature environment and prove beneficial for mother nature,” said Kanchan Maheshwari.

A total 300 dustbin were distributed in Kanti Nagar. During the distribution, officers acquainted the residents about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
