A workshop for hidden talent on Gurgaon streets

More than 500 streetchildren from Delhi and NCR are participating in a "social arts for behaviour change" workshop at MG Road, Gurgaon, that aims to turn traffic-signal areas into begging-free zones. The workshop aims to identify peer educators among these children, so they themselves can become the champions of change. The workshop began on June 21 and will continue till June 26. We bring you a few pictures from the venue.

FITNESS FIRST: The six-day workshop is focussing on enabling children to think for themselves and act as responsible members of the society.

WORLD'S A STAGE: The workshop also aims to enhance their creative abilities through various endeavours such as adventure, theatre, films, storytelling, mask theatre, puppetry, dance, street art and diary writing.

ALL EARS: The children are part of the NGO Plan India’s community development programme, which focusses on raising awareness of child rights, building children’s participation as active citizens and strengthening child protection mechanisms.

A BETTER TOMORROW: The NGO is known for improving the lives of children by providing them access to basic education, proper healthcare, a healthy environment, livelihood opportunities and participation in decisions that affect their lives.
