The officials of Noida traffic police carried out an awareness drive for autorickshaw, tempo and e-rickshaw drivers in Noida's sector 37, Pari Chowk in Greater Noida and at several other traffic hot spots across Gautam Budh Nagar. 

It was done under the Uttar Pradesh traffic month in the first week of November. November is celebrated as Uttar Pradesh traffic month where the traffic police officials try to sensitise the public transport drivers to abide by the traffic rules. 

In the awareness drive, the officials informed the attendees about traffic rules and how important it is to follow two-lane traffic and also gave instructions about medical emergencies in case of an accident.

Notably, as per the officials, traffic police have been more active for road safety and the number of challans against the violators has increased drastically from 2017 to 2019. 

As per the data, 32,629 people were issued challan for not wearing a helmet in 2017 while 1,12,706 people have been issued challan till October 2019 for not wearing a helmet in Gautam Budh Nagar. 

In 2017, there were 14,179 challans issued over not wearing seat belts while in 2019 it increased to 1,04,408. Likewise, the incidents of wrong lane driving increased to 62,564 in 2019 from 7,051 in 2017.

In 2019, 1,02,763 people were given challan for over speeding on Yamuna Expressway, while in 2017, only 4,413 cases were reported.
