It imposed a hefty fine of Rs 1.75 lakh against five defaulters, who were found using banned plastic carry bags in Sector 18 market of Noida.

A team comprising officials from enforcement agency issued a challan of Rs 1 lakh to Bikanerwala, a reputed sweets meat seller for using plastic carry bags at its outlet despite a ban of its use.

It also imposed fine of Rs 25,000 on Kabliwala, Rs 20,000 each on Karim's restaurant and Liberty Drycleaner and Rs 10,000 on Kake Da Hotel, for using plastic carry bags at their respective business outlets.

According to officials, use of plastic bag has been banned, but they were being used it in violation of the rules. Due to this, they were fined and told not to repeat it again.

The agency has already enforced the rules banning use, manufacture and trade of plastic bags in the city. It aims at making the city free from single-use plastic carry bags.
