Greater Noida Authority has decided to install smart bins at some of the locations on a pilot basis. It will be first time that smart bins will be installed in the city.
The bins will be equipped with sensors capable to send signal to command and control centre as and when it will become full.
An official of the authority talking to TOI said, “All the bins will have the capability of storing 1,000 litres of waste and it will cost between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.”
The CEO of GNIDA, Narendra Bhooshan said, “At present, most of the smart cities have started using these bins which are capable to send messages when it needs cleaning. It will be first started on a pilot basis.”
“If we see encouraging response then we will be installing more such kind of dustbins in the city,” he added.
