Dwarka: Residents avoid use of ill-maintained park in Sec 10

A park, which comes under the jurisdiction of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), has been in very bad state due to lack of proper maintenance at Sector 10, Dwarka.

It is located in front of Suruchi and Rohit Apartments and adjacent to Prabhavi Apartments and Venkteshwar International School in Sector 10.

Broken swings, rusted and damaged sea-saw, damaged slides, broken benches and wild grasses on ground can be seen in the park. It is pointing towards the lackadaisical approach of the SDMC.

People said that it is sad that a popular park has been neglected. Ravi Kumar, a resident of the area said, “This is a sad state of affairs. Civic body should maintain it properly. What is important is to keep it maintained always so that people could use the facility.”

When you visit the park, you would see that there is an open gym which has been developed by SDMC. But due to lack of maintenance, people avoid to go in the park and use its equipment.

“The irony is that the open gym was developed in a park which is ill-maintained. I could not understand that why they did not even clean the area. This is absolute negligence from corporation. This is the park where there are many types of facilities like equipment for exercise, recreation and place to spend leisure time. But its maintenance has been an issue,” said SK Sharma, a regular visitor of the park.

The park is under South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) for more than a year. According to people in the area, there is no seriousness of the corporation for its maintenance. Residents, who live near the park, are demanding its maintenance. They are asking the authority to repair or replace the damaged equipment and make the park properly cleaned.

On the subject, Director Press Information, SDMC, Radha Krishan said that he would take the subject into concern and the park would be maintained soon.
