A two-day mega event, Youth for Earth, is scheduled to be organised from January 11 to 12, 2020 in Gurugram to celebrate the National Youth Day. The event aims at making citizens aware about sustainable lifestyles.
Every year, the National Youth Day is observed in January to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand. A meeting was held on Friday under the leadership of District Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri at the PWD rest house, to discuss the celebration of the day next year.
Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), Munish Sharma, Additional Commissioner YS Gupta, Chief Engineer Raman Sharma and ND Vashisht, Assistant Commissioner Aparajita, Shubhi Kesarwani, project head, Gurujal, along with representatives of the Rahgiri Foundation, Navjyoti India Foundation, Azadi Foundation and other organisations were present at the meeting.
The event will provide the administration an occasion to reach out to all the stakeholders of Gurugram including RWA, schools, colleges, corporate sector etc. It will have varied workshops and exhibitions based on sustainable lifestyles including no-use plastic, reducing carbon and water footprints, waste management.
The cultural values of Gurugram will also be highlighted at the event with all types of cultural activities including street plays.
At the meeting, DC Amit Khatri called for maximum participation of people in the event to celebrate the occasion on a grand scale.
