La Residentia: Seeing poor services, residents decide to form own association

Greater Noida: Annoyed over poor maintenance services for daily needs in the society, residents of La Residentia, a highrise in Greater Noida West, joined their hands to take steps against the management. Residents living in several towers in the society assembled and decided to do something in order to avail better services.

They held a meeting on Sunday and unanimously decided to form a residents’ association in a bid to take over the maintenance in their own hands. As a first step, they have setup a 11 members committee which will formulate the necessary rules and bylaws for further course of action.

Residents alleged that continuous lapses in every single service prompted them to take this step.

“Lift disturbances have become a daily nuisance in many towers. Despite several incidents, the management did not take it seriously. Recently, lift service provider has said that fluctuation in power and earthing are causing fault in lift. But the management did not take corrective measures. It has created a fear among the residents, especially children,” said Sumil Jalota, a resident.

Kamal Parashar, another resident, who is one of the members of ‘rules and regulation’ committee said, “We waited enough and now we need to move forward. With unanimous decision, the committee has been given a task to formulate rules and regulations. If all goes as per the plan, we would be able to hold the election by the end of this year.”

Last Friday, a woman who had undergone joint replacement at a hospital, got stuck in a lift while she was returning to her flat in the society. Residents said not only lift but lapses in security system in the society and daily maintenance services have been a serious concern for them.

Sumit Basoya said, “We have completely lost hope of getting proper services from the builder as he seems to be misusing our maintenance funds and things will deteriorate further. With maintenance in our hands, at least, we can hope for improvement with time.”
