Noida: Going tough against the violations of rules, Noida Authority on Tuesday imposed hefty fines on five hoteliers and sweet sellers in Noida. 

According to officials with the authority, it conducted anti-polythene bags drive in Sector 104, in which, defaulters were found giving items in polythene bags to their customers. 

It imposed fine to the tune of Rs 1.4 lakh for violation of the rules. 

An officer with public health, Noida Authority said that a fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed on Pind Balluchi and Barkosh Restaurant, which were using banned polythene bags.

The authority also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 against Moti Mahal Deluxe, and imposed Rs 10,000 each on Mishtanpur Sweets and Daspraksha for violation of the rules.

According to the rules, usage of polythene bags was banned considering the ill-effects on environment and animals. It was also causing pollution and drains were getting choked due to it. Considering this, the authority strictly enforced the rules.
