Talking to CitySpidey, a resident of the society, said, “Ours is a new society and sports gives us a chance to come out, play, meet with our extended family and give a rush to our competitive juices to win the tower trophy.”
Both young and old residents of the society will also participate in several races of 100 meters to 300 meters. The other matches at the sports event are volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, carrom, chess, snooker, pool, badminton and cricket (for both men and women). For cricket, Wonder Cricket Ground in Sector 74 has been booked.
The tower trophy will be decided upon tallying gold and silver medals of participants from different towers, one of the members of the organising team, said.
A lot of time was spent in scheduling of games and other arrangements like booking of ground and getting sponsors, he added.
“Last year, the tower trophy was won by Tower D when only 185 residents participated in the sports meet. This year, we have a larger audience and participants which we would like to see increasing further,” the organiser said.
