Silicon City: Residents demand rollback of demarcated vending zone

Noida: Unhappy with the demarcation of vending zone, residents of Amrapali Silicon City, a high rise in Sector 76, wrote to Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari demanding its rollback.

Silicon City Social Welfare Association (SCSWA), a residents' body of the society strongly objected to the demarcation of vending zone, which was being allotted on piece of land originally earmarked for a green belt beside the road.

Major Neeraj Mishra, an ex-army officer, told that the newly allotted vending zone is along the boundary wall of the society. This is coming on east side of the society, which is going to create law and order issues for them.

He said, “The allotment of vending zone is on the green belt which is causing damage to green cover. It is necessary to maintain greenery for safe environment.” “It is adjacent to the boundary wall of the society, which would lead to a serious security issues in coming days for all those residing in the society,” he added.

Residents argued that the authority had failed to clear illegal occupancy of plot on other side of the society.

Vendors have already occupied a parcel of land on south side of the society. Residents claimed that it is spread over 4,000 square meters and it belongs to the society. But locals and vendors illegally occupied the land. It is causing inconvenience to them.

Mishra urged the top officer to transfer the vending zone to some other place. He said, “We seek officer’s intervention for clearance of illegal occupancy outside the boundary wall of the society. We have also urged to stop any fresh allotment of vendor zone nearby our society.”
