Govt says homebuyers filed over 1,800 cases against builders under IBC

Delhi: The government on Tuesday informed Lok Sabha that homebuyers have filed more than 1,800 cases against developers under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) since June 2018. 

These cases are pending before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) till September 30.

During the Winter Session of Parliament, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur said that homebuyers have filed a total of 1,821 cases at the NCLT since June 2018.

When asked whether the government has taken cognizance of the pending cases at the NCLT, the minister replied in affirmative.

“The matter is under consideration of this (corporate affairs) ministry,” he said.
