The Noida Industrial Development Authority on Wednesday started experimenting traffic control at road juncture near North Eye, an under-construction residential cum commercial building in Sector 74. The move comes within a week after some residents made a demand to this effect.
On November 14, the residents of high rises in Sector 74 to 79 had met Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer of the Noida Authority, with a proposal to make a round circle for passage of traffic at the juncture to avoid road mishaps.
In the proposal, they drew attention of the officer towards requirement of monitoring traffic flow at the road juncture and had demanded that the authority should install a traffic light here to avoid minor road mishaps. Such mishaps have gone unreported in the recent past.
The residents had complained that there was no control over traffic movement at the juncture even as motorists were found driving rashly. It was all due to lack of a traffic lights or any control over commuters. Accidents have occurred at the juncture as a result of commuters driving in wrong lane. They urged the officer to initiate an appropriate action to solve the problem.
Earlier, the authority had installed tyre killers at the juncture to stop driving in wrong lane. But, it failed to rein in the violators of traffic rules as commuters would bypass the tyre killers.
Considering serious violation of traffic rules, the authority took this prompt action and is now exploring the possibility of turning this juncture into a round circle for safe passing of vehicles.
