Members of two AOAs, along with a few residents and shopkeepers of Shipra Sun City, Indirapuram, have kicked up a storm over the removal of a gate installed between Phase I and Phase II of the township.

The gate was locked by some residents of Phase II with the help of security guards on Sunday. But on Monday, residents and shopkeepers of Phase I allegedly broke the lock and opened the gate. This led to a tussle between the residents and the security guards in the area.

According to Gopal Pandey and Raghavendra Trivedi, members of the Phase II AOA, these two phases were constructed on separate plots and required closed boundary walls. They said that keeping in mind the recent burgalaries in the township, the gate was locked. The AOA had permission from the GDA to build a wall in place of a gate.

Updesh Yadav, sub-inspector and in charge of the Niti Khand police post, reached the spot and took control of the situation after much argument among the residents. He said, “Things will remain the same until the Phase II AOA members present the GDA's written permission to keep the gate closed permanently.”

However, members of the Phase I AOA said that the common road should be accessible to residents of both the phases. They said that if the gates were kept closed, they would have to take a longer route of more than 1.5 km just to reach the neighbouring Phase II.

Speaking to City Spidey, Ravindranath Rai, president of the Phase I AOA, said that there were some unwanted elements in both the phases of the township that have created the problem. "Representatives of both the AOAs are going to meet today at 7 pm at the Phase 1 AOA office to discuss and find a solution to the problem," added Rai.
