Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartment braces for fire drill on Sunday

Ghaziabad: The Fire Department of Ghaziabad is all set to organise a mock fire drill at Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartment on Sunday. A team of chief fire officials from Gautam Budh Nagar, Meerut and Bulandshahr visited the society and carried out fire inspection on Wednesday for the purpose.

The decision of the mock fire drill in the society was taken by the officials only after the inspection. The purpose of the drill is to test the condition of fire safety equipments installed in the society.

The inspecting team came calling to the society at the request of some residents, who had approached the office of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, just a few days ago with a complaint about the irregularities in the society.

Ganga Yamuna Hindon is a multistorey residential society with 1300 flats. The society is developed by Housing and Development Board in Siddharth Vihar of Ghaziabad.

The residents allege that the board obtained fire NOC from the fire department in an unauthorised manner. Four towers of the society do not have fire NOC. "This fact is recorded in the books of the department as well which we got after filing an RTI query," said Abhishek Singh, secretary of AOA of the society.

Singh also informed that the officials recorded the incomplete work in the society as per fire safety norms. "We lack sprinklers, fire extinguishers and alarms at many spots. The officials took it on record," he said.
