Noida: On some, especially while indulging revelry, the ban on firecrackers is no deterrent. Three such ignoramuses caught bursting firecrackers in GB Nagar had to pay dearly for a few minutes' joy.

City magistrate, Shailender Mishra, booked three residents for bursting crackers during two different marriage ceremonies.

The action comes close on the heels of launch of a helpline by B N Singh, District Magistrate of GB Nagar, for sharing information about those violating environmental rules.

An FIR has been filed against the father of the groom and manager of the marriage hall located in village Yakubpur for violation of the green norms. Not only cracker burst, DJ too was blaring at the wedding despite ban high decibel noise.

A similar action was initiated against a manager of another marriage hall in Ilabs, which falls under phase two police stations.

An official said that all the three accused have been arrested and sent behind bars for causing air and noise pollution.

The district administration warned the other residents to abstain from bursting crackers at weddings or any other social event to avoid legal action.
