Selfie with Tree, Gurgaon: And the winners are...
The winners of the eco-friendly campaign 'Selfie with Tree' were announced on June 26. The campaign was a joint effort by Pramod Raghav, the founder of NGO Niswarth Kadam and the district administration of Gurgaon.
The awareness campaign was a runaway success with over 2,500 families participating in it. The campaign, which invited people from all across Gurgaon to submit their selfies with a tree they planted, had started on June 4 to commemorate the World Environment Day. The winners of the successful initiative were selected from the shortlisted 750 entries and over one thousand trees were planted all across the city during the programme.
While Taleem Khan bagged the first position, Renu Bansala and Naveen Mudgil won the second and third positions respectively. The winner took home a prize money of Rs 11,000, while the first and second runners up won Rs 5,000 and Rs 1,100 respectively. The winners were also given certificates of appreciation.

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by TL Satyaprakash, deputy commissioner of Gurgaon.
While speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Satyaprakash said, “We should make tree plantation a part of our lives. We appreciate each and every person who participated in the competition. We should keep on working towards saving Mother Earth.”
Apart from cash prize and appreciation certificate, the winners were also gifted T-shirts by sports brand Nike. Speaking about the initiative, Raghav said that Niswarth Kadam will continue to carry out such drives till the environment achieves a balanced state. "The NGO will keep on working with the district administration for many more such drives all over the city,” added Raghav.
