Can't resist eating? Maybe due to BED... Follow tips for natural cure

Are you someone who just can't stop yourself from eating? Or do you feel the urge to consume food every now and then? Well, then you must be suffering from binge eating disorder (BED).

If you are thinking that binge eating is similar to overeating, then you are wrong. So let us first let us differentiate between overeating and binge eating. While the former refers to eating at one time beyond the point of fullness that leaves you feeling full, the latter refers to consuming food in large quantities in a short period of time.

In binge eating you feel such a craving compulsion that you can't stop yourself from eating even when you are not feeling hungry.

We keep enjoying the food until we keep eating, but what about its consequences? Eating after short intervals can make you overweight or lead to obesity which is associated with several diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and arthritis.

Though there is a proper treatment plan for binge eating, given below are a few things that can help reduce the urge to eat.

Don't follow a diet

When you diet, you crave for more thus leading to binge eating. Hence, health experts advise people against diet. If you are planning to lose weight, eat healthy in combination of physical activity.

Stay hydrated

Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day to help with binge eating. Drinking more water may lead to a feeling of fullness, thereby reducing your hunger pangs.

Don’t skip meals

Always have your three meals of the day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Skipping one meal may make you feel more hungry and you could end up overeating during the next meal. Hence, skipping meals is not a solution to overweight. Instead you should have all the three meals but in a healthy manner.

Get enough sleep

People who are sleep deprived have stronger cravings to eat between dinner and bedtime and find it impossible to resist when fatigued. It is, therefore, important to have proper sleep to keep your appetite in check.
