Killer U-turn: Gaur City wants traffic police to formulate a plan

Greater Noida: The U-turn at Gaur City in Greater Noida has become a nuisance for the traffic. Despite the hefty fines, commuters are forced to take wrong-lane risking accident all due to the wrong position of the U-turn.

Notably, in the last one month, the traffic police have fined over 300 people on the spot. Yet it did not prove a deterrent against wrong-lane driving. Seeing this, the residents of Gaur City have requested the traffic police to formulate a comprehensive plan that could prevent accidents in the area.

According to the residents, the U-turn is a little ahead of the entrance of the Gaur City because of which the vehicles heading towards the township from another side prefer to drive on the wrong side for 200 meters towards Kisan Chowk.

A few months ago, to decongest the traffic near Gaur City, the traffic police had closed another U-turn that backfired leading to more accidents due to wrong lane driving. 

To contain the menace, Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic, Anil Kumar Jha, asked its officers to look into the matter and work out a plan. Meanwhile, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is also a formulating a plan to decongest the city's traffic.
