Noida: 7x sectors residents carry out campaign against wrong side driving

Noida: To dissuade people from wrong side driving, a group of residents from Noida’s 7x sectors on Sunday carried out “Ulta Na Chalo” awareness campaign at Sector 76 near Aqua Line metro station.

The residents of various societies of 7x (71 to 79 sectors) took to the main road showing banners like “Start early, drive slowly, reach safely” and “Do not use a cell phone while driving.”

Around 100 commuters, who were violating traffic rules, were stopped by these residents. The residents also asked them to follow the rules. They also rewarded the people with chocolate who agreed to their requests.

Talking to CitySpidey, Brajesh K Sharma, one of the volunteers said, Noida witnesses a lot of wrong side driving. If traffic police, Noida Authority and residents drive campaign against wrong side driving, then it can have a huge impact in improving traffic sense of the public, congestions and accidents can also be reduced.

The residents have also decided to report incidents of traffic negligence through the 7x welfare team Twitter account and raise more awareness about wrong side driving in Noida.

Jitendra Kumar from Mahagun Moderne in Sector 78 said, “We organised activities related to Hindi Diwas, Vigilance, Swachhta Abhiyan, Ekta Diwas and many more. This time, we decided to campaign for traffic awareness for the entire month.”

Notably, the Uttar Pradesh traffic police have been running November as traffic awareness week and Noida traffic police have been conducted several awareness workshops to encourage people to follow traffic rules.
