Ghaziabad achieves sixth rank in state under PM Housing scheme

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad district has achieved sixth rank in the state for building most number of houses under PM Housing scheme. The ranking came after State Urban Development Agency compiled a list of constructed and under-construction homes under the scheme in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) of Ghaziabad, nodal agency to implement the scheme in districts, has completed construction of eight thousand homes. “The agency is also expected to add over fifteen thousand more homes in year 2020,” informed Pawan Kumar Sharma, regional officer of DUDA.

Started in 2016, under this scheme, the government provided financial assistance to 2.5 lakhs persons who possess a land but lack money to construct a house on that land.

The DUDA had set an objective to provide houses to 28,596 people in Ghaziabad. However, Sharma said that the districts ranked above than Ghaziabad had smaller objective than Ghaziabad.

Sharma also said that construction of 15,157 houses under PM housing for all scheme has been started. The construction is expected to be completed by March 2020. Soon, a dream of living in own home for 15,000 people, will come true.
