Gurugram: Aiming to instill a sense of discipline among motorists, the Gurugram Traffic Police initiated a special drive against the violators of traffic rules. On Monday, they carried out a campaign against those who were found driving in wrong side at 33 intersections, penalised 313 violators and impounded six vehicles.

At several places in the city, people can be seen driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid long cuts posing risk to pedestrians and other motorists.

On Tuesday, the traffic police took stringent action against those who jumped the red light. They issued challans to 204 people and impounded 12 vehicles.

Their action came after receiving feedback and complaints on traffic rules violation through social media from across the city.

According to the traffic police, the aim of the drive was to sound a warning for errant motorists who are not only flouting the traffic rules but also risking the lives of others. They have made up their mind to launch more such drives.
