Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority on Tuesday organised an awareness workshop for the representatives of the respective Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) regarding Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The authority made a detailed presentation on implementation of the rules.
The objective of the workshop was to motivate the RWAs for effective implementation of rules. A total of 42 representatives participated in the workshop. Apart from the implmentation of the waste management rules, the authority also focussed on working towards curbing air pollution in the area.
An official who attended the workshop said, “The representatives were requested to do waste segregation at source.”
To expedite the process to implement rules, many NGOs will be roped in who will be organising seminars, street plays etc to make the people aware about importance of cleanliness in the vicinity.
It was informed that the authority will start plastic waste management by adopting the concepts of reuse and reduce. The official informed, “All the policies have already been devised and the authority is hopeful of implementing them before March 2020.”
Experts have also been selected to manage horticulture waste generated in the city. Parks will also get a facelift and 70,000 LED lights will be installed on the streets.
The representatives, who attended the workshop, were also informed about the management of dry, wet, inert and electronic waste. The authority instructed to install incinerator machine for disposal of sanitary napkins and diapers. These incinerator machines will be installed at public places like parks and bus stands.
Apart from all this, around 300 dustbins will also be placed in different areas of the city. The authority also shared the WhatsApp number (8800203912) for people who wish to inform about the place which required dustbins.
The authority also appealed to the residents to exercise restraint in throwing grabage. They asked people to dispose the garbage at designated places.
