Sleuths of the Noida police arrested three members of a gang involved in duping people by pretending to help them withdraw cash from ATM in UP and other states.

A team from Ecotech-3 police station arrested the trio near Baba Mohan Ram Hospital in Greater Noida at the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vaibhav Krishna.

The accused have been identified as Imrat, Saif Ali and Mukim, all from Haryana, who have been active in Delhi-NCR and four other states including Indore region for the last one-and-a-half year, he said, adding, the gang has duped many in several states across India.

The three men used to wait outside ATMs at secluded places and approach people who were not able to withdraw cash pretending to help them. After knowing the pin they would exchange the person's ATM card with another and hand it over to them and later withdraw money using the original ATM and pin.

During interrogation, 24 ATM cards of different banks, two pistols and live cartridges, a knife and a car with Delhi's registration number was seized from the accused, said SSP.

The accused have been booked under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. ), 379 (punishment for theft.), 414 (assisting in the concealment of stolen property.  ), and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
