CONRWA demands settlement of interest on security deposit from PVVNL

Noida: Confederation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (CONRWA) recently wrote to chief engineer with Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), the power distribution corporation, demanding settlement of interest earned on security deposit which was piled after demand of additional security deposit from residential consumers.

It said that the distribution corporation served a notice to all domestic consumers in the city asking them to make payment of additional security deposit with it as per new tariffs. But the very same notice reached to many customers too late to pay the demand on time.

PS Jain, president of CONRWA said that there are consumers who found the copy of notice outside their homes. He said, “The corporation should have ensured that the notice was received by consumers or his relatives personally.”

“It was a surprise to many consumers when they got copy of notice in the letter box of their homes as it was delayed and due date mentioned on it had already gone. We have demanded the corporation to reissue such notice ensuring that it is received in person and give them (consumers) time of 30 days for payment of additional security,” he said.

He pointed out that there was a provision in which security deposited by domestic consumers was earning interest and this earning is of respective consumers. He said, “We have made a demand from the corporation to declare that earning on the copy of notice to be served to respective consumers so that they might settle it with additional security deposit being demanded by corporation.”

A copy of letter has also been attached to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath; Shrikant Sharma, minister of energy and energy resources with government of UP; and AM Bangari, general manager with PVVNL for their notice.
