Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) on Friday approved a proposal to create a municipal department to deal with the civic issues in the urban area. It also approved 10 other proposals related to different departments.

Considering regular requests from residents across Greater Noida, the authority has agreed to form a dedicated municipal wing that will address civic issues.

With more than 100 sectors already under the master plan, regular engineers and staff members have been taking care of both development projects and municipal work of the area.

In a meeting held on Friday, Narendra Bhooshan, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Noida Authority, has approved the proposal which will now be sent to the UP government for final nod before implementation.

Talking to CitySpidey, several residents said that the move will benefit the occupants of the region and faster redressal to civic issues will be done.

Sujata Asthana, a resident of sector Alpha 1 said, “The authority has not been serious on the municipal work. The work often gets delayed. A dedicated team will help in making Greater Noida better.”

The authority has also decided to buy 1,500 acres of land from farmers willing to sell their land for industrial projects. They have planned to develop four new sectors and allot the land for setting up industries in Greater Noida.

In the meeting, there was discussion on defaulters. The board decided to allow defaulter builders to reschedule their defaulted amount. The fuel station scheme under the new category through e-auction will also be taken up.
