Dwarka: Despite the issue was brought to the notice of the police two months back, there has been no action to improve the darkness in a service lane in front of societies along the master plan road 201 in Sector 3, Dwarka. Residents fear to get out on the service lane after dark. The darkness provides safe havens to miscreants.
Societies like Heritage Tower, Sansad Vihar, Astha Kunj, National Apartments etc are facing the problem. Near Sansad Vihar and Astha Kunj Apartments, there are vacant plots which remains dark. Besides, the service lane in front of them also remains dark.
Residents said that due to vacant plots and the darkness, hooligans and other anti social elements are taking advantage and the particular spot has become unsafe. Residents and representatives of the societies gave a letter to the police and requested to take initiative to stop the anti-social activities in the area.
They also organised a meeting in September regarding the issue and put their problem in front of the police.
A resident of Sansad Vihar Sharmishtha Chaudhry who has been raising the issue said, “This is unfortunate that still there is no action on our issues. In September we made the police aware about our issue but still there is darkness and the road is unsafe. Now we are planning for another meeting to review the subject so that something could be done immediately.”
Residents also demanded frequent patrolling and proper lighting on the stretch from Sansad Vihar till Astha Kunj.
President of Heritage Tower, Arun Srivastava said, “Authorities must take the subject seriously. The service lane should be made properly lit and presence of police should be there. We are fed up with the issue and now want a permanent solution.”
