Gurugram: The second edition of New Gurugram Premier League concluded here on Sunday with the final played between Team Life Style Homes and Team Royal Ville at Gurudronacharya Cricket Academy of sector 82. The team from Life Style Homes emerged the winner of NGPL-2 defeating the rival team.

In an overnight match, LSH won the toss and elected to bat first and managed a score of 182 runs on a loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. While chasing the target TRV managed to score 105 runs only. Amit Kaushik was the captain for Life Style Homes while Aman Dhul led Royal Ville.  

As many as 14 housing societies in New Gurugram participated in the T-20 cricket tournament which started in August this year. All the matches were played during the weekends. People from different professional backgrounds took part in the tournament.

Around 50 league matches were played by the 14 teams including Life Style Homes, Royal Ville, Palm Hills, Takshila, Antriksh Heights, Gurgaon One 84, Vatika Seven Lamps, Corona Hawks, Gurgaon Strikers, Mapsko Casabella, Doctors Eleven, RV Avengers, Warriors 86, Gurgaon One Avengers.

The chilly weather conditions failed to dampen the sporting spirit of the players. The spectators were equally enthusiastic about the match.

The tournament is the brainchild of Anil Khatri and Gagan Saini, who wanted to bring harmony and instill sportsmanship in the residents living in the society. 

"This is the newly developed area in the city. We don't have much for recreational activities through this tournament we bond over for love for the sport of cricket. We have started the tournament to provide a platform for all the residents living in various societies in the area to play and connect," they said.

"We have started this tournament last year with a small number of participants. Today we boast of around 14 teams. It is still getting bigger and better. The season 3 of NGPL is expected by March 2020," they added.
