To improve the last mile connectivity from sectors, metro stations, markets and bus stops, the Noida Industial Development Authority has decided to come up with a public e-bike programme.

The authority plans to have 620 e-bikes. 62 points have been identified where the authority will install docking stations. It has circulated tenders for engagement of an agency for operations and installation of docking stations.

The tender also includes a clause asking the selected company to integrate the public bike sharing (PBS) system with that of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) so that connectivity to metro stations can be ensured.

“Noida lacks sustainable first and last-mile connectivity solutions that are affordable, eco-friendly and viable,” said Ritu Maheswari, CEO of Noida Authority.

Docking stations will be fully-automated and will be able to read RFID enabled smart cards. They will be operated without attendants. The stands will will have power supply and locking supply for parking during the day and night. The e-cycles will be fitted with GPS trackers and will be available from 5 am to 11 pm everyday.
