GDA crackdown on commercial activities in residential premises in the offing

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is all set to tighten noose on people carrying out commercial activities inside residential premises of Crossings Republik. The properties on which commercial activities are being carried out inside the societies would be sealed.

GDA's officer on special duty (OSD), Sushil Kumar Chaubey, told CitySpidey that the authority will begin a sealing drive from next week.

Commercial activities inside residential premises is violation of bylaws.

Chaubey informed that before the drive, a survey would be done to check how many people were involved in the violation.

“We have found out that commercial activities were rampant in more than 40 residential areas. We have sent a notice to them, but only a handful have reported. Now, we will discontinue their commercial activities by sealing their operations,” he added.

A survey was conducted after a huge fire incident was reported on the 15th floor of Supertech Livingston Society. The fire originated from a flat which was turned into a storing unit for an e-commerce company.
