Noida: Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), the public power distribution corporation, is gearing to replace rusted and dilapidated electricity poles in Noida. This was disclosed by chief engineer of the corporation.

He said that the PVVNL would also replace the damaged electric panels along with the polls.

The chief engineer was speaking to office bearers of the Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Association (FONRWA) during a meeting held at his office in Sector 14, Noida.

KK Jain, secretary general of the FONRWA, said that they had demanded replacing of panel boxes and underground cables in residential sectors along with the damaged electricity poles. The damaged poles, he feared could fall anytime. They pose a threat to the residents.

Considering the seriousness of the issue, the chief engineer said he had received the approval for replacing about 2,000 old electricity poles with new ones. The development work will start from December 15.

Yogendra Sharma, president of the federation, said that the engineer had also assured replacement of electric insulator conductors with the new ones to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all the residential pockets.

All the underground damaged cables will be replaced and control panels will be installed to improve fluctuated power supply. The panels would be installed near transformers in residential pockets.
