Under its cleanliness drive, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) distributed Green dustbin for the segregation of bio waste. The drive was carried out in Kant Nagar ward. 

More than 200 dustbins were distributed among people on the occasion with a message to keep their area clean.

Speaking on the occasion, East Delhi’s Shadara Zone councilor, Kanchan Maheswari, how important is the segregation of waste for proper recycling of garbage. 

She elaborated saying, “If the bio-waste like peels of vegetables, food, fruits and other kitchen waste is kept separately, it can be used for compose.”

She further said, “We, generally, mix all the waste into one dustbin. This is not easy to separate. So, we distributed green separate dustbins for collecting of bio waste.” 

A resident of Kanti Nagar, Ram Singh, said, "We are now using green, black and yellow dustbins for proper waste management. By doing this we can contribute our bit to environmental safety.”
