Gurugram’s big leap towards hi-tech city 

An integrated command and control center (ICCC) was inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday in Sector 44. The center is built to make Gurugram a super smart city where basic amenities can be made available to the citizens through technology.

The entire project was accomplished at a cost of Rs 38 crore. With this, Gurugram has become the first city in the state to boast this facility.

Union Minister of State for Planning, Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Indrajit Singh was present at the inauguration. The Chief Minister, Union minister and others were briefed about how all the government buildings and police stations of the city would be connected to the optical fibre networks. At present, 160 government buildings and police stations have been connected with the network.

So far, 400 km of optical fiber has been laid by three agencies in the city and all the government buildings and adjoining gram panchayats of the city will be connected with the data center of cloud network. The center has online real time access, evaluation and reporting of data for decisions, paperless work, high speed bandwidth with Wi-Fi and internet facilities as well as video conferencing facility with various offices.

The Chief Minister was apprised about the integrated smart services at the center with CCTV system for data analysis and monitoring, traffic control and management, property and land record management, public traffic, street light monitoring and control, solid waste management, water quality monitoring of STP, drinking water supply monitoring, environmental monitoring, urban service cooperation center and mobile apps to facilitate citizen participation in order to make Gurugram better smart city.

Chief Executive Officer of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), V Umashankar said, "All the government buildings in the city will be equipped with public Wi-Fi within the next 6 to 9 months. Apart from this, a mobile app has been developed for the ICCC by bringing all the citizen services on one platform so that public can access the facilities."

To increase the reach of this center, he said plans have been made by identifying 358 intersection points and 1200 CCTV cameras will be installed. At present, 250 CCTV cameras are operational which cover 50 intersection points. by March-2020, 1,200 CCTV cameras will be operational on 222 crossings.
Detecting speed, identification, number plate, colour identification of the vehicle, two-wheeler drivers without helmet can be identified in this center. Besides, with the help of cameras, one can also spot potholes, waterlogging and picketing performance, facial recognition along with crowd counting facility will be possible.

Smart streetlight facility can also be controlled from this center and can be turned on-off from the center. Apart from this, monitoring of vehicles engaged in solid waste management will be done from this center. Drinking water supply meters have been integrated with this center and STPs have also been added. Smart environment meters installed to check pollution status in various areas of the city are also connected to this center which will give information about AQI.
