Volunteers take lead in sensitising commuters about lane driving

Noida: Noida 7X Welfare Team, a group of socially active citizens residing in different high rises in Sector 74 to 79, on Sunday carried out an awareness drive near a metro station in Sector 71 to sensitise commuters on lane driving.

Several residents, volunteering to facilitate hassle-free drive, gathered at Sector-76 at T-point on the main road going towards Dadri from Noida around 10:30 am. Holding banners and posters in their hands, they stood on the road to educate all those commuters seen violating traffic norms on the route.

Devendra Singh Rathore, a citizen, said that they carried out the drive for creating awareness among commuters to follow traffic rules. They spread the message that driving in wrong lane could prove fatal for them as others.

“To prevent road accidents, we urged the commuters not to drive in wrong a lane,” said Rathore.

He said that a majority of road accidents have taken place when commuters did not follow the traffic rules. If they follow the rules, the numbers of accidents would come down.

Residents, including Giriraj Bahedia, Mukesh Gupta, Brajesh Sharma and OP Sagar, took interest in resolving the issue arising from lack of road manners among commuters. They said that a majority of the accidents have occurred due to violation of traffic rules.
