MLA assures Sector 5 over extension of central park

Gurugram: Gurugram MLA Sudhir Singla assured the residents of Sector 5 that he would take up the matter with concerned department their demand for extention of central park. The residents want to extend the park to a vacant plot lying adjacent to it.

The MLA gave the assurance to a delegation of residents when they met him to seek his support for their cause. They were  accompanied by RWA members.

The vacant plot, which lies in part 6 of Sector 5, was earmarked for a nursery school. It was auctioned several times by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) but the site was not found suitable to run a school.

The residents said that till date no one had shown any interest in converting the plot into a park for children.

Now, HUDA has marked it as a residential plot.

Dinesh Vashisht, RWA president said, "When nobody looked after the land, we asked the HUDA to construct a boundary wall around it. The area is used by children for playing. Now they have converted the plot for residential purpose and want to auction it.”

There are around 300 families residing in the sector with no recreational facilities for senior citizens, women and children. The residents have been maintaining the plot for a long time. They planted trees on the plot and took care of it.

"Any construction in this area would deprive our children from play and would destroy the green cover posing a threat to ecology," Vashisht said.
