Gurugram: Radiance World Foundation, a city-based organisation, reached out to more than 450 children of construction labourers studying in various community parks of Gurugram with bags, caps and socks.

Pointing out that children belonging to underprivileged families are generally left out of school, Ragini Shree, managing trustee of the foundation, said, "Our foundation is aimed at providing resources to such children and extend help to those who make efforts to to provide education to them.”

The foundation distributed bags to more than 450 children studying in various parks at Sectors 45, 46, 51, 52, 57, and Mayfield Garden. Since children sit in the open, they also distributed caps and socks.

The children, who used to bring stationery and lunch boxes in polythene bags or old torn bags, were happy to get new bags. The open classes are run by Free Pathshala, an initiative of Roshan Kumar, and Nanhe Kadam Free Pathshala at Mayfield Garden by Gobind Pahilajani, a retired civil engineer.

The foundation plans to cover all the children from economically weaker sections (EPS) in Gurugram with free distribution of stationery, books and other educational material. The foundation has distributed woolens and stationery in the past too to encourage deserving and needy students.

"Children have tender minds and they can be moulded in a positive manner for constructive activities. We have noticed that several children who are deprived of education have one or other talent but they need a platform. As such 'catch them young' is our motto," she added.
