3 Noida restaurants fined for flouting waste disposal norms

Continuing with its drive against defaulters, Noida Industrial Development Authority, the agency entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the Solid Waste Management Act 2016, on Wednesday imposed a hefty fine on three restaurants for non-compliance of solid waste management rules. 

According to officials, IP Singh, an officer on special duty with Noida Industrial Development Authority had conducted a surprise inspection of outlets of three bulk waste generators namely Punjabi Nature Restaurant, Walk In the Woods Restaurant and Wat-a-Burger Restaurant.  

As per the rules, it is the responsibility of the bulk waste generators to make proper arrangement for the disposal of wet waste. But, the defaulters have not initiated any steps in this regard. 

They were using banned plastic carry bags at their outlets. 

Punjabi Nature Restaurant, Walk In the Woods Restaurant, and Wat-a-Burger Restaurant were fined Rs 1.25 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5,000 respectively.
