Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has come of age. To celebrate 29th year of its establishment, the authority has planned a four-day long carnival from January 25 to 28, 2020.

The authority has planned various programmes for the four-day extravaganza such as cultural night, handicraft fair, light and sound show, laser show and food festival. The cultural night will see sufi musicians, Indian and international artists performing along with Kavi Samelan. 

It will team up with resident welfare associations (RWAs) to carry out competitions and cultural shows in the 100-plus sectors of the city.

The authority will also be organising a hackathon, science festival, workshops on artificial intelligence and a half marathon to create awareness about solid waste management.

The celebration will begin at City Park from January 25 to January 28. 

Briefing on the celebrations, Narendra Bhooshan, chief executive officer of the Greater Noida Authority, said, "We have invited institutions such as the Gautam Buddha University, Shiv Nadar University, Galgotias University and various engineering colleges and schools to organise youth festivals to celebrate the foundation day." 

The authority was formed on January 28, 1991 to undertake the developmental work of Greater Noida. The city, spread across 38,000 hectares acquired from 124 villages, has 26.83 per cent recreational green area with an aim to maintain a healthy environment for residents. 

The residential area of the city is spread on 25.81 per cent while 31.46 per cent makes the industrial area and the remaining land is used by institutional commercial purposes.
