Noida: After heavy showers hit Delhi-NCR on Thursday, several residents' association of Noida demanded the concerned departments to take measures for road safety during dense fog, make arrangement for people braving cold outside and sheds for on-duty security guards at public parks in the city.

Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Association (CONRWA) on Friday wrote to local police demanding measures to avoid mishap during such weather. It also forwarded a copy of the letter to the Noida Industiral Development Authority for initiating steps for safe drive during the cold weather.

P S Jain, President of the confederation, said that steps should be taken by local police to ensure that all e-rickshaws have reflectors to avoid accidents. He said, ''Reflectors will not only save e-rickshaws but also commuters from meeting with accidents. There will be less chances of getting hit by other vehicles from behind.”

Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Sector 51 wrote to the Noida Industrial Development Authority demanding installation of sheds at Meghdootam Park for on-duty guards to protect them from cold weather.

Sanjeev Kumar, General Secretary of the RWA, said “The guards faced inconvenience due to Thursday's rain. Since there was no shed for them in the park, they had to take shelter at some other place. Therefore, the authority should make shelter for them in the park so that they can keep a watch on the park even during rain or cold weather.”

Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association also wrote to the Noida Industrial Development Authority demanding installation of temporary sheds for homeless people in the city.

K K Jain, Secretary General of the federation, said that people, especially without home, are having tough time in the cold weather. They are forced to spend night under the open sky. Considering this, the authority should intall temporary sheds for them at different locations in the city.
