Arvind Kejriwal adds 30 more services to doorstep delivery scheme

New Delhi: Keeping in view the increasing demand of public services from Delhiites, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced 30 additional services to his government's doorstep delivery scheme.

The AAP-led Delhi government had started 'services at door step' scheme with 40 services from different departments last year in September. Later, 30 more services were added in the second phase and now 30 more have been added. The scheme now covers 100 services of 14 Delhi government departments.

The new services are being added under six departments, Delhi Pharmacy Council, Delhi Transport Corporation, Labour Department, Women and Child Development, Drugs Control Department and Transport Department.

People can avail these services at their doorsteps which also includes adding names of family members in ration card, paying the motor vehicle tax, getting a DTC pass etc.

People need to dial 1076 to avail these services at their homes by paying Rs 50 extra. The new services include booking a tour package through Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corp, Delhi pension scheme to women in distress, issuance of free bus passes for disabled persons, renewal of conductor license among the others.

In the first phase, the services which people availed at their doors included certificates of marriage, caste, domicile, income, births and deaths among others.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Kejriwal said that the government decided to add more public services to the scheme as its demand increased manifold.

“Doorstep delivery is 99 per cent effective as people are informed in advance as to what documents would be required for a particular document to be made. So when an agency person reaches their home, they already have the documents compared to when they go to a particular department.”

Divulging the details of the calls received to avail public services at door step by the residents of Delhi, Kejriwal said most of the calls received were regarding inquiry of services. "Total 14 departments of Delhi government will be providing their services to the people at their homes," the chief minister added.

Driving license, new water or sewer connection and disconnection were also provided under the scheme. The scheme functions between 8 am and 10 pm through a 'Mobile Sahayak'.
