Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apt: Residents want cancellation of upcoming AOA election

Ghaziabad: Levelling serious allegation of discrepancy in operating maintenance fund, the residents of Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartments are demanding cancellation of an upcoming Apartment Owners Association (AOA) election proposed in the end of December.

The residents have written to the Deputy Registrar terming the election illegal and way to escape from the responsibility by Aawas Vikas Parishad, the developing agency of the Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartments.

“We have sought intervention of deputy registrar as a case is being heard against Aawas Vikas in National Consumer Disputes Redressal System for misappropriation of maintenance funds and formation of Resident Welfare Association illegally. While the case is still being heard, such decision attracts contempt of the court. We have sent legal notice to the developing agency. They are yet to respond,” told Abhishek Singh, petitioner and resident of the society.

The bone of contention in Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartments is dissatisfaction and fear among the residents against its developer. The residents are dissatisfied with the shoddy maintenance of the society and are afraid that the Aawas Vikas would leave the project incomplete if a new residents' body is formed after the election.

“From community hall to swimming pool, many amenities have not been provided to the residents till date. Surprisingly, the Aawas Vikas self assigned completion certificate to themselves despite lacking in basic amenities. We have deposited two maintenance fund of two years in advance to the parishad during taking possession of our flats. They have not used it properly. They want to elect a body so that the onus of maintenance comes upon the residents and they can walk away with our money. We won't let that happen,” alleged Singh.

When asked on what ground he and other residents are levelling an allegation of misappropriation of maintenance fund, Singh said that even after multiple requests, the parishad is not disclosing the account books. “They are not sharing the expenditure data from the maintenance fund, nor they are making audit of the account. It suggests that they have eaten it up,” said Singh.

Besides, the allegation of misappropriation, the residents are also claiming the election illegal. Currently, a body with the name – Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartment Owners Welfare and Maintenance Association looks after the maintenance of the society. However, the residents found no representation in this body and alleged that it was formed without their consent.

The current registered body has eight members, all from Aawas Vikas Parishad. The body is headed by Vaibhav Pandey, executive engineer of the parishad.

Meanwhile, the residents have formed an internal committee with the name Ganga Yamuna Hindon Apartment Owners Association. The residents alleged that if the election is conducted, the developer will handover the maintenance responsibility to the new body and would not share the corpus fund it collected during the sale of the flats.

CitySpidey tried to reach the officials of Aawas Vikas Parishad but they remained incommunicado. The story will be updated after receiving their version.
