MCG outreach: Officials hold meets in ward 4, 24, 26 and 31

Under its ‘Municipal Corporation at Doorstep’ campaign, officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) reached out the residents of ward number 4, 24, 26 and 31 on Sunday to readdress public grievances.

The MCG officials held meetings with the residents of the wards, which was attended by Mayor Madhu Azad and councilors, to listen to the complaints of the residents.  The meetings in Ward 4, 24, 26 and 31were headed by Councillor Virendra Raj Yadav, Councillor Sunil Yadav, Councillor Parveen Lata and Councillor Kuldeep Bohra Councillor, respectively.

'Municipal Corporation at Doorstep of Citizens' is the outreach programme of the corporation commenced on December 1 and will continue till January 25. It aims at solving the problems of each ward by bringing the officers and the public at one platform.

One such meeting was held at Community Center in Sector-22A wherein residents of sector 21 and 22 raised their grievances before the civic body. Joint Commissioner Gaurav Anil and Councillor Virendra Raj Yadav were present in ward number-4 and instructed the officials on early resolution to the problems.

Several issues pertaining to water supply, cleanliness, pruning of trees, road repair, dysfunctional streetlights, cleaning storm water drains, stray cattle menace, encroachment on park and market area, footpath repair, beautification of parks etc. were vociferously raised by the residents during the meeting.

Bhim Singh Yadav, RWA president of sector 22, said erratic water supply was a major cause of concern for the residents. They requested for online booster pump to tide over the water crisis. They have also demanded repair of water tank, upgradation of pipeline and challans to be issued against those who waste water.

He said complaints had been made against the violators in the past, but the authorities seem did not heed.

“We have been facing problem in maintaining the community centre due to non-payment of charge since April this year. Also, payment for sanitation was not released since July except for the month of August despite repeated reminder to the authority,” lamented Yadav.

Besides, the residents demanded early completion of open gym, beautification of the main entrance of the sector, repairing of roads, footpaths, fencing of green belt, garbage burning, covering drain with slabs as most them are missing from several places posing risk to the pedestrian.

Shashipal Yadav, RWA president sector 21 said, “We have raised the failure of eco-green in door-to-door collection of garbage. We had to hire private vendor for garbage collection, but now they too are being prevented from dumping the waste at the designated site by the agency. Some of our sector roads need urgent repair, choked drain need cleaning, streetlights in the park need replacement.”

Contrary to the claim of the civic body of early redressal of their problems, the residents alleged that this kind of initiatives was taken last year too, but the problem raised during that time are still unresolved. “Then too, we were fed on assurances. Don’t know how long they will take to redress our grievances this time,” Yadav said.
